THE FLANNY AWARDS 2018

The day before the Hollywood Foreign Press comes through with what’s sure to be some baffling choices at the Golden Globes, it’s time for the only awards you can rely on for straight FACTS, The Flannies!

The prestigious and influential Flanny awards (you can decide for yourself what shape the statuette takes) are my personal picks for films that are eligible for this year’s awards season. So while Elle, Moonlight etc are in my top films of 2017 due to their UK release date, their 2016 US release keeps them from inclusion here. Gotta keep it current for those clicks.

WINNERS HIGHLIGHTED (don’t worry guys you’re all winners):

That about wraps it up. Congratulations to all of the nominees and winners on your great work and a great year of cinema.

If the awards process has taught me anything it’s that I didn’t get a chance to write about as many of the films I loved this year as I would have liked. Seriously, what was I so busy with when Get Out, Personal Shopper and Columbus dropped that I couldn’t give them a shout out?

Watch this space for more consistency, more depth and more quality in 2018.

Ben
